The Suburban is Chevrolet's long-wheelbase full-size SUV, the stretched version of the Tahoe and the oldest continuously used nameplate in the American car industry. It seats up to nine, tows heavily and has more cargo space behind the third row than almost anything else on the road. Criticism focuses on gasoline V8 fuel consumption, the money asked for High Country trims, and a base LS interior that testers describe as too plain for a vehicle of this price. Magnetic ride control has been singled out as worth the money.

A commercial success in a narrow but profitable niche, with almost no direct competition outside Ford's Expedition Max and its own GMC and Cadillac siblings. Resale is good and demand from large families, livery operators and government fleets keeps used values firm. Reliability notes match the Tahoe and Silverado: sound V8 and diesel engines with lifter and cylinder-deactivation oil-consumption cautions on certain years, plus air-suspension and transmission complaints on early 2021-2022 cars. Tires on 18s are cheap for a vehicle this heavy; on 22s they are not.
