Globally the A6 is a success and China is the reason: the long-wheelbase A6L sold over 180,000 cars there in 2023 against 8,319 in the United States. In America it is a niche product squeezed by the Q7 and Q8 crossovers. Resale is soft, so a three- or four-year-old A6 is a lot of car for the money. Reliability reputation is fair: the supercharged and turbocharged V6s are strong but the supporting systems, air suspension and electronics are expensive once warranty ends.
